Glossybox June 2016 – Beauty News

First of all… I have an apology to make. As I sit and type this… it is nearing the end of July. This is June’s Glossybox review. I’m behind, I know. I’ve been busy. Ok…. enough apologising… let’s get on with it! Welcome to my thoughts on the June Glossybox!

This month’s box was all about discovering new products, and boy did I discover some good’uns. I normally like to pinpoint my favourite product in each Glossybox, but this month I really am stuck between two – the Origins GinZing Energy Boosting Moisturiser and Spa to You Konjac Sponge.

The moisturiser is just amazing – words simply cannot describe how much I love this moisturiser… I think I might have to buy the full size (and I VERY rarely do that!). It is branded as an ‘energizing’ moisturiser and I cannot agree enough – it completely lives up to this. It has a zingy orange scent which is quite strong, so immediately wakes you up. I’ve been using this most mornings and still have some left – the formula spreads really well and you don’t need much on each application. As the full size retails at £25.00 , I think this is great value for money!

My second favourite is the Spa to You Konjac Sponge. I’d seen these around but had absolutely no idea what the point of them was. The packaging explained that as well as being biodegradable, pH balanced and also having no chemicals, preservatives, colours etc, it actually exfoliated, cleanses, refines pores AND moisturises your skin. Honestly? I thought I was going to hate this. I thought it was going to be pointless… but it actually really works! It feels SO nice against your skin and for some reason, my skin just seems more clean and soft after using this sponge in my usual daily routine. It definitely passes the test from me!

I was a bit disappointed to see yet another lip product in this month’s box… Glossybox seems to just give me so many lip products that I never actually use any of them up! This month’s was an Emite Makeup Up Lip and Cheek Tint. I’m still a bit unsure how I feel about this product. I definitely don’t like it as a cheek product – I barely wear blush anyway, but for me, it is too strong a colour and has too sticky a texture for me to be comfortable putting it on my face… I definitely feel as though this product would clog up your pores. In terms of a lip tint though – it is pretty good! The doe foot applicator makes it easy to tint your lips precisely, and the colour has great stay power – meaning it’s perfect to pop on in the morning before work and not having to worry about reapplying lipstick every two hours. I’m not massively keen on the shade and unfortunately they only sell it in one shade. Shame.

Update: I’ve changed my mind. I love it. It stays on my lips ALL DAY at work! You can layer the tint up too, to get a deeper red, if you prefer (albeit this makes it get a bit patchy after eating). I can’t believe I didn’t give this product more of a chance… Just goes to show that first impressions aren’t always accurate!

I also received a couple of products that are definitely well suited for the current heatwave we have been experiencing in London over the last few weeks – Ladival Sun Protection Spray SPF 15 and De Bruyere After Sun Lotion! It was quite nice to see some more luxurious sun care products, as I normally just reach for the bog standard budget friendly options on the 3 for 2 offer in Boots…  If I’m honest, I’ve not used the sun lotion yet. SPF 15 is too low for me (I’m ridiculously pale) but it is good to have a lower SPF option available to make sure I’m always protected from the sun – even if it isn’t scorching hot like it has been recently. As for the after sun lotion – it is such a lovely formula and glides and soaks into your skin well. I definitely feel as though this would soothe your skin after a long sun bathing session!

I was pretty pleased to see an extra surprise product in the box – a sachet sample of Aussie’s 3 Minute Miracle deep conditioner for damaged hair. I’ve been a long time fan of Aussie ever since I decided to bleach my own hair at home (the idea seemed great when I was 16!) so it was great to have a spare sachet of a brand I already use! As always, the product left my hair silky smooth and I could immediately see a reduction in frizz and obvious breakages. Result! I hope Glossybox pop more small surprise products in the boxes in future – it was a nice touch in addition to the five products we normally receive.

Overall, Glossybox have yet again done very well with their selection of products and introduced me to some great new finds – the Konjac Sponge is definitely going to have to be repurchased when it gets gross in a couple of months time!
