Glossybox – August 2016

This month’s Glossybox was a celebratory box – Glossybox is officially five years old! I’ve been signed up to Glossybox for quite a few years now, so it is amazing to have been with the company as they’ve evolved. The celebratory box was partnered with luxe accessory label Rae Feather.

The special birthday gift for us was the Rae Feather Mini Monogram Pochette. It is just so cute! The canvas material means you can fit a fair bit of makeup in, yet it is still small enough to pop in a clutch on a night out. With a waterproof interior, it shouldn’t get too damaged should your foundation leak, either – result!

The first ‘glossy great’ product to catch my eye was the Spa To You Deep Pore Facial Cleansing Brush. These cleansing brushes are all over the beauty scene at the moment – I am desperate for a Magnitone or Clarisonic, but trying out a simpler, cheaper brush never really crossed my mind. You simply wet the brush and use with your normal cleanser to help exfoliate the skin and give a deeper clean. Boy does it work! My skin is honestly left feeling fresh, clean and radiant after using this. I can only imagine what an electronic cleansing brush can do!

I am such an avid pamperer (is that even a thing?!) – most Sundays are spent lounging in the bath, lighting some candles, and slapping on a face mask and moisturising my full body. No one has got time to look after themselves on a weekday! I was therefore eager to try out the next to products, which I knew would fit perfectly into this little routine of mine – the MudMasky Facial Detox Purifying Recovery Mask and Cowshed Wild Cow Invigorating Body Lotion.

The MudMasky Facial Detox Purifying Recovery Mask is a clay mask – so it hardens on your face as it dries and you then wash it off with water. It really leaves my skin feeling amazingly soft and even makes my skin look clearer – any blemishes are calmed and my skin tone seems more even. I actually think I might have found a new favourite clay mask…. move aside DHC Mineral Mask from my February Blogger Beauty Box! It is a little on the pricey side, but I definitely think it is worth it!

Cowshed is a brand I’ve loved in 2016 – I received one of their crackers for Christmas 2015 and have loved the lip balm and hand cream from that! Their products are always so nicely scented, and this wild cow body lotion definitely didn’t disappoint – scented with Lemongrass, Ginger and Rosemary, it has an almost calming and relaxing effect and for this reason I have come to love using it before bedtime.

The last product in this month’s box was an MUA Eyeshadow Palette. Last month, we were emailed asking which palette we wanted – I chose a neutral palette, as I tend to go for more bronzed, neutral tones, however I was sent the Glitter Ball palette, which has loads of bright colours! A little out of my comfort zone admittedly, but it does have some really nice colours – Jive is a nice pale pink and Equinox, Disco and Vinyl could be paired for a grey smokey eye, or Inferno, Remix and Hustle could make a good bronzed smokey eye! So, even though at first I was a bit like ‘woah’, I still think I’ll be able to get some use out of this palette!

My two smokey eye combos – Inferno, Remix & Hustle or Equinox, Disco & Vinyl.

Overall, this wasn’t my favourite box in the past few months, but for me the cleansing brush and face mask definitely were the stand out products. Without these two products, I would have been very disappointed in this month’s box!
