So, in the second post of my 2016 Resolutions mini series, I wanted to make my blog resolutions official…. that way, I can’t chicken out!
I’ve read a lot of these posts where people aim for a specific number of followers or views, which is fine, but I personally don’t want to become stat obsessed. Yeah, my views are increasing nicely. Yeah, I’m getting more followers on Twitter and Bloglovin, but getting followers is not the reason I started this blog – it was to keep me occupied, document my life, my likes and my experiences and keep me happy and healthy.
So, my resolutions are a little vaguer but focus more on where I want to improve on my content and quality as opposed to hitting stat goals. Let’s get started…
Post more of a variety
I have so many things I want to blog about, and really want my blog to become a more overall view of my life, rather than just focusing on beauty and fashion. That’s why in my recent mini rebrand, I’ve put ‘life’ first in my header. I want to post more about the amazing restaurants my boyfriend and I visit. I want to post more about my thoughts and feelings on issues. I want to post more about everything!
2. Commit to a blogging schedule
I really think a blogging schedule will help me post more of the variety I want to, without having too many similar posts one after the other. I’m going to aim for 3 times a week. I’m currently thinking Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday would be the best days for me – I’ll give this a go and see if it works for me. It may need tweaking and I may change this around if I have posts I want to go live on particular days!
3. Work in advance
This is a really big one for me. Blogging is meant to be my stress release, however I am finding that the weeks where my posts are planned I am so chilled out, but the weeks where I’m rushing the night before a post is due up, I am SO stressed out! This really can’t continue – I need to get to a point where I’m working in advance – ideally 2-3 weeks at all times. Luckily, I’ve had some time off work recently for the festive period so have been able to catch up. I hope I can find a way to ensure this continues!
4. Participate in more Twitter chats
I LOVE twitter chats. Like, seriously, they’re great! If you don’t know what a twitter chat is, they’re basically massive conversations between like minded individuals using a certain hashtag (#) to follow the conversation. I find that twitter chats are a great way to meet new bloggers and make friends, as well as asking for advice where it is needed! Unfortunately, as I am quite a busy person, I don’t get to participate in as many twitter chats as I’d like to, so my goal is to try and aim to participate in at least one a week!
5. Improve my photography
I feel as though the photos on my blog are the one thing that is really letting me down on my blog at the moment. I’m a perfectionist and I am well aware that my photos are not up to scratch…that’s why I purchased a brand new camera on Boxing Day! I’m now the proud owner of a Canon EOS 750d and I can’t wait to learn more about how to use it and get some good photos on my blog!
I’m excited to see how I get on with all of the above, and I will definitely make sure I do a similar post in a year’s time to look back on how I’ve done!
