Another month… another Pink Parcel! After two amazing boxes, I was so excited to see what was in this month’s box. If you’ve not heard of Pink Parcel before, why not read my introductory post first to see what sanitary goodies come in the box? To save repeating myself every month, I’m just going to review the different beauty products monthly… Let’s jump right in!
The first thing to catch my attention was the New CID Cosmetics i-glow mini Compact Shimmer Powder in Coral Crush. First of all – the packaging is SO cute! It’s really good quality, minimalistic and unique’. I forgot to swatch the colour when I was taking photos (I’m a bad beauty blogger, I know…) but it is a soft pink, with a touch of shimmer. It isn’t too in your face, and blends out well. I actually don’t wear blush much, because I don’t like looks with really obvious blush, however this just gives the perfect amount of colour to your cheeks. I’m impressed!
I was excited to see a large refreshing eye gel from AA Skincare – I’m often forgetting to use eye creams, but I know how important it is to keep your eye area hydrated to prevent wrinkles. I was impressed that this eye gel was more of an eye makeup remover as opposed to an eye cream like I originally thought. Unfortunately, this gel didn’t bode well for me – I actually seemed to have some sort of reaction to the gel. As soon as I applied it, my eyes BURNED! I’ve spoken to the team at AA Skincare who are looking into whether it was the face wash I had used (The Body Shop Tea Tree Wash, FYI). I was a little disappointed that they actually advertise that this product is especially suitable for sensitive skin on their website – if this is the case, surely it definitely should not have burned like it did? So whilst it is a shame the product didn’t work for me, it’s nice to know their customer service team is looking into it.
A small travel size bottle of Schwarzkopf Colour-Freeze Shampoo was pretty useless for me, as it is meant for coloured hair. My hair is au natural, so I’ve shoved this into my box for my next Twitter giveaway, instead!
I was eager to try the Cotswold Lavender Slumber Spray – what a great idea for a box for *that* time of month! I’m a big fan of This Works Deep Sleep Spray so wondered if this would live up to it? It’s a nice smell – lavender – which is relaxing and pleasant to spritz all over your pillows. Whilst I haven’t found it any help in the time it takes me to drift off, I can say that I have a more solid, deeper sleep when I use it. This could of course be a coincidence, but I see the same results with the This Works spray. It is at a cheaper price point than the This Works spray, so might be a good alternative if you want something cheaper.
This month’s edible goodies were an Ombar Centres Coconut and Vanilla chocolate bar and Nairn’s Oat Crackers. I had a nibble on the chocolate bar but unfortunately it wasn’t for me – I’m pretty selective when it comes to dark chocolate (I have to be in the right mood!) and I couldn’t get over the coconut flavour. I just really cannot stand coconut flavoured food! The oat crackers were yummy – I wish I had eaten them with some cheese!
As always, there was a nice new tea to try out in the box, too. I was gutted when I saw it was also coconut flavoured … Y ALL THE COCONUT, PINK PARCEL?!?!? I’ve given the coconut and cranberry Cuppanut tea to my boyfriend to try out instead!
Last but not least, pink parcel popped in some scented tea lights. Honestly? They weren’t very scented! I lit all four very close to where I was sitting and I couldn’t smell them. Shame. I love a good candlelit evening, though, so I can’t really complain.
Shop the box –
I’m not gonna lie, I was a bit disappointed with this month’s box. It’s a shame that my personal preferences (i.e my hatred for coconut) ruined the tea and chocolate. The Shwarzkopf shampoo not being suited to my hair type and the AA skincare eye gel reacting to my skin was not ideal, either. I’m hoping this was just a one off and next month’s box will be better suited for me!
Let me know if there are any beauty boxes you think I’d like in the comments below – I’m always on the look out for new ones!
