So, I am a lover of red lipstick. Who isn’t?! I wanted to write about my favourite red lipstick which I’ve had now for about 4 years – Chanel Rouge Allure in shade 99 – Pirate.
First of all, we need to talk packaging. How classy is this packaging?! I love how it is solid black and then the bottom of the lipstick is gold with the Chanel logo. It’s also a push up and down lipstick (I’m not sure if there is a proper name for this?!) – you push the gold logo down and the lipstick pops up. I love it! As you can tell, my lipstick is very worn and I really should clean the case…
The colour itself is just so intense, so bright and just perfect! I remember walking into Chanel in Covent Garden and just telling the lady I wanted the brightest red they had! I always get so many compliments when I wear this lipstick and most people are shocked when I tell them its Chanel, as a lot of non beauty addicts wouldn’t necessarily associate Chanel with makeup.
It glides on well, is very creamy and doesn’t dry my lips out like other lipsticks can. It isn’t matte but I wouldn’t say it’s awfully shiny/glossy either – if you blot it with some toilet paper it goes pretty much matte!
It has great staying power and lasts a whole night out without needing to be topped up unless I’m eating something really messy (think kebab on the way home – we all do it!). Result.
Excuse the pouting in the following pictures – how else are you meant to show a lip colour?! The bottom picture is the best reflection of the true colour – I need a new camera, I know. Soz guys.
Face in the pictures above is a very light use of the Bare Minerals foundation from my Ready To Go Palette, with a touch of the bronzer and illuminator – you can read my full review here.
The only negative to this Chanel Rouge Allure lipstick is that I haven’t got a matching lip liner, so I do find that sometimes the colour bleeds into my skin a little around the edges if I’m wearing it for a really long time. But that’s more my fault – I’ve had four years to find a lip liner!
