Introducing… Pure Potions!

One of my favourite parts of blogging is being able to try out brands I never normally would – when we find brands that work for us, we tend to stick with them and repurchase products rather than experiment. I’m trying to experiment more with different brands, so when I was introduced to Pure Potions at #BLFW I was intrigued to find out more about their company and products.

I’d heard about the brand in a few other blogs before, but I never really knew much about what products they offered or what their USP was. Speaking with the representative, I soon learnt that Pure Potions was a natural brand, created by a mother who was desperate to find something to treat her daughter’s dry and itchy skin. She found a winning natural combination that seemed to work and more and more people asked her for it, so she decided to start selling it and voila – Pure Potions was born! They now stock a wide range of products, and I was lucky enough to be gifted the Bath and Body Oil* and Intensive Moisturising Ointment* to take home from #BLFW and try out!

I’ve been a big fan of bath oils ever since I discovered the Acuregen Lavender Body Oil from my December Blogger Beauty Box, so I was excited to add to my collection and give another one a try. I have never got so much hydration from any other sort of bath product! Simply pour some oil into a running bath and move the water around to make sure the oil mixes into the water well, and you will be left with a beautiful bath ready to turn your skin softer than you have ever felt it before!

Your skin is instantly smooth as soon as you get out the bath – no need to follow up with a moisturiser, so great if you’re in a rush! It’s also great if you’ve got to shave your legs, as I find it helps give a much smoother shave and leaves me less prone to ingrown hairs.

You can also use the oil directly on your skin for a really intense hydration – I have a feeling this is going to be perfect in summer when my skin might be a bit sun damaged and dry.

For only £12.99, I think this oil is an absolute bargain – you only need a small amount in your bath to get good results, so this would easily last a few months – if not longer. As the brand specialises in treating skin conditions, this would be a pretty safe bet as a gift for a friend with sensitive skin!

Now on to the product which first started it all – the Intensive Moisturising Ointment. It is a solid product which softens up slightly on your body temperature, and you just rub it into the affected area. The brand representative told us at #BLFW not only is this good for dry or itchy skin, as well as major skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis, but also for any ‘skin dilemmas’ – a graze, bruise – anything that needs a bit of TLC! As it is natural, you don’t have to worry about any nasty chemicals either.

I tried a very small amount of this on a few dry patches of skin and it seemed to do the trick, but as I don’t massively suffer from dry skin, I just felt like it was going to be wasted on me. So, I gave this to a friend who would be able to put it to more use! He used it on a certain area so he would be able to see the results and the ointment cleared the skin up well! He did also note because of the size of the pot – it is pretty small – £7.99 might be a touch on the expensive side.

The only negative that both myself and my friend found – it doesn’t smell great!! This is probably down to the ingredients being natural, but does limit you to only being able to use it at night time.

Overall, I’m pretty impressed with this brand and definitely think they need some more exposure. If you do suffer from dry and sensitive skin and find other things don’t work for you – give this a try!
