Summer Makeup with Just My Look

The internet has introduced us to a multitude of new abilities – we can see pictures of cats sitting like humans, find a recipe for the leftovers in the fridge or stream hundreds of thousands of TV shows – all from the click of a button, and a few typed words into Google. Being a self confessed beauty and skincare addict, the internet has undoubtedly changed the way that I choose, buy and use makeup. Long gone are the days of simply strolling into Boots and choosing whatever I fancy on the day –  the internet brings the ability to conduct hard core research on every new foundation release and hours on pinterest searching for the perfect Kylie Lip Kit dupe. I, like many others, now prefer to do my shopping online, and that’s where Just My Look come in.

Obviously, lots of people have cottoned onto the spike of online shopping in recent years, and most makeup brands sell their own makeup directly online. Of course, you still have the high street stores like Boots and Superdrug, but whilst picking up your batteries and BB cream in one transaction might sound ideal, being a beauty addict, I want one platform dedicated to all things beauty. I want a site that shows me the new releases. I want free delivery. I want special offers on my favourite branded makeup and I want the cheapest price possible without having to sacrifice the quality of swaying from my favourite brand.

Sounds like a pretty impossible ask, right?

Nah. I bring you Just My Look

Just My Look is a website dedicated for all your beauty essentials – makeup, skincare, haircare, nails, tanning, bath and body…. you name it, they have it! It’s all in one place – all your fave brands and all your fave products.

Just My Look oh so kindly sent me a box packed full of summer essentials to try out, and the second I got my hands on it, I couldn’t wait to get testing! I thought I would create a full face of makeup using as many of the products as possible, so I can take you guys through my look with these new goodies step by step!

To start off every good face of makeup, you need a solid base. So, you can imagine my excitement when I saw the Real Techniques Core Collection Kit*. I absolutely love Real Technique brushes – they’re very affordable, but offer excellent results. They came in a cute little carry case – you can close and secure the pouch with velcro which keeps your brushes safe and convenient for travelling. Fold it in half, like I have done in the picture above, and the case doubles up as a stand to keep your brushes upright!

The set contained four brushes – a pointed foundation brush, buffing brush, detailer brush and contour brush. This set would be absolutely perfect for beginners, as it has all you need to get started on a full face of makeup.

Albeit I am now a trusty beauty sponge user, on this occasion, wanting to put the products to the full test, I opted to apply my Ten Image All Day Make-Up HD 18 Hour foundation foundation with the Real Techniques foundation brush. Don’t get me wrong, it does the job, but it wasn’t until I buffed it out with the buffing brush that I got more of an ‘airbrushed’ finish like my beauty sponge creates.

I then used the contour brush to sweep a bit of Dusty Girls Natural Mineral Bronzer beneath my cheekbones and around the edges of my forehead, to give me a little bit of colour.

The Laroc Cosmetics Natural Shades Professional 120 Colour Eyeshadow Palette* is the palette of dreams. I mean…. just look at it – SO MANY COLOURS! Mostly natural shades of nudes and browns, the palette has a mix of matte and shimmery shades, also with a few ‘pops’ of colour – like a gorgeous bronze and a couple of greens, too. Albeit the eyeshadow is rather powdery with a lot of fall out (be sure to tap the excess off your brush and dab on your hand before applying!), I must admit I was impressed with the pigmentation – a little bit of shadow goes quite a long way.

As I was opting for a summery look, I used the detailer Real Techniques brush to sweep an orange shade across my lid, then put a slightly darker shade in my crease. I finished the look off with a shimmery bronze, to give a more drastic pop of colour, before blending it all out with my fluffy MAC 217 blending brush.

As there are so many shades in this palette, I was also able to find a shade to match my brows (hoorah!). I started by filling in my eyebrows with the detailer Real Techniques brush, before opting for my trusty Spectrum Collections A09 brush* to apply the powder wet to create a more precise, defined shape to my brows.

It was then time to move onto one of my fave makeup elements – highlight! I used the LA Girl USA Pro Conceal HD High Definition Concealer Highlighter in shade GC996 Highlighter* under my brow bone. The brush head allowed for precise application, meaning I could essentially carve out my brows without having to dirty another brush.

I then used the gorgeous Sleek Distorted Dreams 5 Colour Highlighting Palette* to highlight the rest of my face – brow bones, tip of my nose, cupids bow and chin. After all, you can never have too much highlight, am I right?! This highlighting palette has quickly become my fave. It’s just so versatile – there are two powder highlights, and three creams. Each have slightly different undertones, meaning you can opt for a highlight to match the rest of your look, or alternatively – a new pop of colour into a plain look.

The Sleek Distorted Dreams 5 Colour Highlighting Palette* is so versatile, in fact, it doesn’t have to JUST be used for highlighter. I used the blue/purple shade to create a frosted lip effect – the cream glides onto the lips with ease. I just wish I had lined my lips first, as the cream highlight didn’t quite give the crisp edge that I normally prefer on a lip.

All that I needed now, was a pop of mascara, and I was good to go with my summer look!

I think the overall look with the Just My Look products turned out pretty good! I’m normally quite plain with my makeup looks, and opt for the classic red lip, or smokey bronze/grey eyeshadow. The clashing orange eye and purple, frosted lip was definitely new for me, but I loved it! I just felt so summery!

Just My Look also kindly sent me the Saturated Colour Make Me Matte Lipstick Mattifier* and OPI Rosy Future Nail Polish * – whilst I didn’t use them in this look, I’m definitely going to be using them in future looks!
