Quick and Easy Nails with Thumbs Up Nail Wraps

I like to experiment with my nails: gels, acrylics – I’ve tried them all! Something that was new to me, however, were nail wraps.

When I attended the #BLFW event a few months ago, I was lucky enough to meet a representative from ThumbsUp Nails – a nail wrap company. I was absolutely blown away by the nail wraps at first – I mean jaw wide open ‘oh-ma-gawd’ kind of blown away. They were SO easy and SO quick to apply, and left you with a perfectly manicured nail! Unfortunately, over the course of the evening the nail wrap started to come off. We left the event with a little goody bag with our own pack of nail wraps* to try. I couldn’t wait to try them out properly and see if I could get them to last!

In each pack are 10 nail wraps: at first I thought this meant there were enough for 2 applications (or fingers and toes!) but unfortunately it is only enough for one application: there are just different sizes to ensure you can match your nail size as perfectly as possible.

The nail wrap is fairly easy to apply: take off the protective layer of plastic, pick a size, take it off by the silver tab, smooth it onto your nail and then file off the excess. It was easier than I expected, but I did note a few difficulties:

  • Creases. You have to be so careful to smooth out ALL of the creases, as a tiny crease will catch on things and slowly start to peel off over the next few days!
  • Nail shape. I rounded my nails prior to putting on the wraps, which made them slightly more difficult to apply, smooth and file down. I would recommend starting off with a square nail until you’re confident applying them!
  • Tips. For some reason, the tips of my nail wraps started to come off the next day. I’m not sure if this is due to my nail shape, but I’d love to try these out with a layer of polish/ gel to seal in the wrap.

Overall, I’m fairly impressed. When I first applied them and I saw they were coming up at some of the edges, I started texting my friends saying how awful they were. My opinion has definitely changed as now 4 days later, despite a few chips and the tips wearing off, my nails still look pretty darn good.

Also – how good do the nails look with my Corbico Jewellery rings?! Don’t forget you can get 10% off at Corbico Jewellery with my code ‘JODE10’!
