Get Summer Ready!

The sun is shining and the population of Britain is beginning to strip off – summer is finally now around the corner! I for one am very excited, and have been busy prepping for the season ahead. I thought I’d share my tips on how to get summer ready!

For me, the one fashion item you NEED in your wardrobe in summer are kimonos. Perfect as a cover up on the beach, by the pool, and instantly can transform a boring, plain outfit into something a little more exciting. Experiment with lengths and colours – I personally love bright, floral kimonos but I am definitely loving the sheer maxi style going on at the moment, too.

Of course, if you don’t like covering up with a kimono, you need a killer swimsuit to flaunt! I’m always very self conscious in swimwear and normally hide myself away a bit when it comes to lounging by the pool. I was recently introduced to a brand that helped with this issue though – Miraclesuit*. Miraclesuit promises to make you look up to 10 pounds lighter using their technology, but is super clever as: 1) the swimsuits don’t look like massive ugly spanx and 2) it actually works! The swimwear makes my stomach immediately flat, and enhances the natural line of my waist and I can definitely agree it makes me look slimmer than my normal swimwear does. What’s even better is that they come in a range of colours, patterns and fits for all shapes – how gorgeous is the floral print on this one!! Major love heart emoji eyes.

Even better – if you’re from the UK like me we can now get hold of Miraclesuit from their UK stockist – Patricia Eve!

Psst! Head over to my Twitter for the chance to win a Miraclesuit of your own!

No swimming costume is complete without a gorgeous tan, but unfortunately I wasn’t blessed with great tan genes. To make it, ya gotta fake it! Fake tan is generally a bit of a no-go area for me (far too many memories of my 15 year old self being orange/streaky/having to sit on towels) but since rediscovering gradual fake tan I’ve realised how much I’ve been missing out on! I’ve been using the MooGoo How Now Brown Cow gradual tanning cream from my January Blogger Beauty Box. It is a very subtle tan, and definitely takes multiple applications for me to start noticing the difference I want, but that is perfect. You end up with a natural looking, streak free tan!

I’ve also discovered gradual tan can be used on your face – yep, helloooo beautifully glowy skin! Although you can use the MooGoo tan on your face, I’ve actually been opting for Madame LA LA West Coast as it is also an instant tan. I know this sounds confusing, but basically you can either use it purely as an instant tan (it will practically completely come off when you remove your makeup/cleanse)or build it up over a few applications as a gradual tan, which is how I opt to use it. I pop it on before I go to bed, wash my face as normal in the morning, and am left looking a little less gaunt!

For those who don’t want to opt down the fake tan route, you can of course use makeup to get the glow! I love The Body Shop All in One BB Cream – it changes to match your skin tone (meaning if your skin tone is changing due to tan, you haven’t got o buy different base shades!) and it also leaves you with a dewy finish!

I’ve also been loving the Golden Sugar palette from Makeup Revolution to highlight my face – it has so many different shades you can choose what tone of highlight you want. Want a dramatic highlight? Opt for the silver/gold. For a more healthy look that also acts as a blusher, use the shades with pink tones. I use the bronze shades for a more natural highlight, and it also has some contour shades, too!

So, we’re dressed to impress in our cozzies and kimonos, we’re tanned, perfectly highlighted – we can’t have horrible, dry, peeling skin now can we?! In the run up to Summer please don’t forget to exfoliate! I’ve been absolutely loving Urban Tan Glamour Grit Salt Scrub*. It’s a harsh salt scrub, but also has ingredients such as sea kelp and algae, so gets off all the dry skin and leaves your legs super smooth. I use it once or twice a week and have honestly never had smoother skin! I cannot recommend this product enough! Perfect to use before you put on your fake tan, or hop on a plane to top up on a natural tan!
