Okay so… I know my blog is starting to become a little bit full of subscription box reviews, but this is just because the world of subscription boxes has really taken off over the past year or two – you can pretty much get a subscription box for anything nowadays. Let me introduce you to one that you probably didn’t expect to exist, though… a GIN subscription box! Bring on the Gin Explorer box!
Yep, that’s right – you heard me right. GIN. Every month. Delivered to your door. You don’t need to even pop to the off license! Genius!
In the Gin Explorer Box*, not only do you get a selection of four different gins, but you also get some added extras. I was lucky enough to receive some beer mats (handy), mints, a cocktail spoon and tonic water. Included is a helpful leaflet explaining all about the inspiration for the month’s box, detailed information on each gin and even recipe ideas and tips and tricks. All of this comes well packaged in a brown box, full of shredded paper to keep your gin nice and safe in the post. We cant be wasting any of that gin now, can we?!
As I’m not the hugest gin drinker (although my boyfriend is, so he was very willing to test them out for me!) we thought we would have a little cocktail night at home. We experimented with a few different gin cocktails and they seemed to disappear from the glasses quickly, so they must have been good! If you want to try your hand at cocktail making, why not give this recipe a try?!
3 mint sprigs
1 teaspoon sugar syrup
Chopped ice
Lemon juice (1/2 lemon squeezed)
3 measures of gin
Put the mint and sugar syrup in the glass and bash it around a bit to bruise the leaves. Fill the glass with chopped ice, add the gin, squeeze in the lemon and mix up – voila! How easy is that?!
How amazing would the Gin Explorer box be as a birthday present for that gin loving family member or even as a Christmas present!? You can get a monthly subscription, or pay a one of fee for 3 months or 12 months.
