how to raise a lover of science

Science is such a diverse subject yet is one every child should explore. It has some of the most amazing benefits by learning about the universe to the tiniest of atoms. Given that science can allow a child to follow a route that takes them to some of the best occupations, some parents may want to encourage their child to choose science as their future. However, to ensure your child enjoys it and wants it themselves, they have to have a long-term passion for it. Here is some advice from a prep school in Cardiff on how to raise a science lover.

Encourage your child by asking them questions. Science is heavily diverse so it is important you first figure out which areas your child may have an interest in. Turn their curiosity into lessons. For example, your child may wonder how night and day works. You can use simple equipment as well as educational programmes to help them understand.

Playing with water can be fun for a child but also educational given the route you take. You can demonstrate the densities of objects as well as showing them how solids, liquids and gases work. This can be done by simply boiling and freezing water.

The most exciting part about science is always the experiments. So, explore as many as you can with your child. Demonstrations of volcanoes using coke and mentos has a similar concept to the eruption of lava and will surely have your child engaged. Above all, this method of learning creates a fun approach to science which will allow your child to grow to love it.

Nature is one of the best ways to introduce science into your child’s daily life. Plant seeds with them in the garden and give them the responsibility to water it and keep an eye on its growth. It will be fascinating for your child to see something so small turn into something big. Discuss different seasons and allow the weather each day to change up which activities you may get up to with your little one!
