Pumpkin Picking in Kent: Stanhill Farm

One of my favourite activities to do in Autumn, other than my new found love of apple picking, is pumpkin picking! If you’re looking for a pumpkin patch to go pumpkin picking in Kent, let me introduce you to the one and only Stanhill Farm!

Where is Stanhill Farm Pumpkin Patch?

The Stanhill Farm pumpkin patch is located in Wilmington, close to both Swanley and Bexley with good access from the A2 if travelling from further afar. If you’re following a satnav or good old trusty Google Maps, use their main address – Stanhill Farm, Birchwood Road, Wilmington, Dartford, Kent, DA2 7HD and then follow the signs to the Pumpkin Patch– there’s a dedicated car park. Do not park next to their farm shop at the entrance, as they need to keep this free for the farm shop customers.

What Happens When You Go Pumpkin Picking?

When you arrive at Stanhill Farm for your pumpkin picking, you’ll be welcomed by a staff member who will scan your QR code from your pre booked ticket. Please note that for 2021 you MUST pre book your arrival slot online before you arrive (it’s free!). You can then make your way to the car park – there’s plenty of on site parking, although please note this is on a field so wellies are a must, and it might not suit some cars in really muddy conditions.

There’s a marquee set up at the entrance to the pumpkin patch – grab one of the many wheelbarrows and make your way through! There’s two choices of pumpkin picking – a straw covered area that has been set up with pumpkins arranged in piles (this one is great for pictures or little legs that won’t make the walk down to the main field!) and a larger pumpkin patch. The larger pumpkin patch is a bit of a walk down – only a few minutes walk for adults, but if you’re pumpkin picking with small children then make sure you’ve got plenty of time for the walk.

Pumpkin picking itself is easy – the pumpkins have already been cut from their vines, so it’s just a case of finding a pumpkin you like the look of and loading it in your wheelbarrow. Once you’ve chosen all your pumpkins, wheel it back to the marquee at the entrance to pay for them before heading back to your car. Easy!

How Much Does Pumpkin Picking in Kent at Stanhill Farm Cost?

It’s free to enter the Stanhill Farm pumpkin patch in Kent (don’t forget to pre-book your ticket!), but you need to pay for your pumpkins! You can either pay £35 for a wheelbarrow of pumpkins (as many as you can fit in whilst still pushing!) or you can buy the pumpkins individually – prices start at just £1. We got 3 fairly large pumpkins for only £9 so it’s great value – if we go back again we’ll definitely pick up a lot more!

When is the Stanhill Farm Pumpkin Patch Open?

For 2021, the Stanhill Farm pumpkin picking patch is open from Saturday 16th October through until Wednesday 27th October. The pre-bookable sessions run from 9:30am – 3:30pm from Monday to Saturday, and 10:30am – 2:30pm on Sundays.

Stanhill Farm are anticipating the pumpkins to be popular this year, so at the moment you can’t buy tickets for 28th, 29th, 30th & 31st October, but keep an eye out on social media as if pumpkins are still available then tickets will be released for these days!

We’ve finished pumpkin picking… now what?!

When you’re all done with your pumpkin picking in Kent for 2021, don’t forget to visit the farm shop afterwards – they have plenty on offer including fruit, vegetables, dry produce and lots more!

They also have a pop up cafe – Berries & Beans – that will be reopening for the pumpkin season. Why not grab a cup of tea or coffee after pumpkin picking?

Overall, we had such a lovely time making Halloween memories and would highly recommend Stanhill Farm pumpkin picking to any local families in Kent or Halloween lovers alike. The pumpkins are super popular this year, so if you’re hoping to go pumpkin picking in Kent in 2021, you best be quick!
