Looking for a present or new toy for your toddler, pre-schooler or child? Here’s why the VTech Pirate Ship is the toy you need!

When you’re looking for a toy for your child, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by choice – there’s just so much out there that it’s often hard to know where to start! We would never have chosen the VTech pirate ship ourselves, but it has become a solid favourite in our household since it was bought as a gift for our 2 year old son. We’ve all fallen a little bit in love with it (and the hot cuppa it always allows for!), so let me tell you more!

Why you should buy the VTech Toot-Toot Friends Kingdom Pirate Ship

The main stand out features of the VTech Toot-Toot Friends Kingdom Pirate Ship, for me, are the cannon blaster and the interactive role play element.

Load the cannon blaster with the supplied ball and press the trigger button to shoot the cannon ball – it doesn’t go far, but it has enough force to knock over small toys, which my toddler finds incredibly fun! We like to set up little sea creatures on plastic cups and shoot the cannon ball at them – it’s great fun.

The VTech Toot-Toot Friends Kingdom Pirate Ship comes with 3 characters – two pirates and a monkey – who use the Toot Toot MagicPoint technology to sound clever little phrases and responses when you put them on the different parts of the ship. There are three lights with different settings – one of which is a role play setting. The voice calls out different instructions such as ‘press the red button’ or ‘press the sails button to raise the sails’ and plays out scenarios such as getting the ship ready to sail. My toddler is just getting into role play so this is great for improving his imagination. There is also an educational setting wherein pressing the different buttons results in an explanation of what it represents – for example, pressing the sail button explains that when it’s windy, it’s time to raise the sail. There is also a music setting wherein the different buttons plays different songs.

In addition to the above, there are some other great features, such as the seesaw platform, trapdoor, steering wheel and more! The pirate ship can open up to reveal an octopus with spinning tentacles! Put the cannon ball in the trapdoor and watch it roll down the stairs and land in the hole! Can you find the hidden treasure chest?

My toddler absolutely loves role playing, so playing with the VTech pirate ship has been full of endless imaginative possibilities and I’m sure will provide plenty of fun for years to come!

How much is the VTech Toot-Toot Friends Kingdom Pirate Ship?

The VTech Toot-Toot Pirate Ship retails at around £45, but keep an eye out for offers – it’s often on sale for £35-40.

It’s a little on the pricey side for a singular toy, but it’s full of so many role play possibilities that I definitely think it’s worth the price tag!

Where can I buy the VTech Pirate Ship?

The VTech Toot-Toot Friends Kingdom Pirate Ship is sold at most popular toy retailers such as Smyths or the Entertainer. You can also buy it on good old Amazon – perfect if you have an Amazon Prime account!

Overall, I would highly recommend the VTech Pirate Ship for all children aged 2+. It would make a great birthday or Christmas present!
