If you’re looking for a social class full of movement and music for babies and toddlers in North West Kent, then the Tots with Tempo class in Castle Hill is the class for you!
Tots with Tempo is a fun and friendly music and movement class for babies and toddlers. The classes aim to develop looking, listening and copying skills through the fun of nursery rhymes and action songs.
Tots with Tempo have numerous venues in Kent, including Bexley, Joydens Wood, Eynsford, Greenhithe and more! I attended the Castle Hill group which is held at the Castle Hill Community Centre, Ebbsfleet Valley, DA10 1AD.
The classes are half an hour long – they’re perfectly timed to make the most of the session without losing the children’s interest. The class goes at a nice, steady pace and doesn’t feel at all rushed.
Prices may vary depending on location, however I booked a one off trial class for £5.35. You can also book a term, in which case the price is dependent on the number of sessions in the term.
I attended Tots with Tempo at the Castle Hill Community Centre, which has ample parking in a large car park – there’s also a co-op and pharmacy if you have errands to run.
Inside the community centre, we settled down on a mat, which were arranged in a circle. The class then begun, with the class instructor, Beckie, playing songs and demonstrating the actions and encouraging the children to join in. Arthur got stuck in straight away and really enjoyed the singing and dancing!
Some songs have props and little games, too – such as puppets which are thrown into the centre one by one, bean bags which are balanced on their heads or hands and colourful scarves to play peekaboo and throw up into the sky. As much as Arthur enjoyed playing with the props, he also enjoyed the tidying up of them too – it was really sweet watching all the children rush to help out. I wish he was that excited by tidying up at home!
Beckie, the instructor, was extremely enthusiastic and really great with the children – you can tell she is very passionate and genuinely enjoys what she does! The class overall was one of our favourite music style classes we’ve attended to date (Arthur has a new found love of ring a ring o’ roses since this class!) and I am definitely looking forward to attending again when our schedule frees up a little more!
