I realised that whilst I talk about makeup a lot over here on Jodetopia, I’ve never actually explained what I put on my face on a daily basis. It’s taken me a while to find the combination of products that work the best for me, but I’m glad to have finally found a look I’m happy with. I know this post is a little over done in the blogosphere, but for those of you who might be even remotely interested, read on to discover my daily makeup routine. P.S. Prep
After completing my skincare routine (or just using Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water & The Body Shop Tea Tree Toner (post) if I’m feeling lazy), I prep my skin by using a serum and moisturiser. At the moment, I’m using Hey Honey’s Good Morning Honey Silk Facial Serum (post) and topping off with Anubis Total Hydrating Bi-gel* (post). This keeps my skin hydrated deeply all day and provides a good base for my makeup. If I can remember (which is not very often) I’ll finish up with some eye gel, too.
Base
On a day to day basis, I don’t want to be caked in thick makeup, so I opt for my favourite The Body Shop All In One BB Cream. When it comes out of the tube it is white – as you rub it into your face it adapts to your skin colour! I’ve never found a more perfect match to my skin tone and whilst it doesn’t give massive coverage, it is perfect for a day at work.
I touch up any blemishes and my under eye circles with Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer and pat this in with a Lab2 Call Me Mr Perfect Sponge Applicator*. This has quickly become my favourite beauty sponge – the small end works amazingly well with concealer whereas the larger end is perfect for cream blush or foundation!
Most days, I don’t bother setting my BB cream and concealer with a powder, but if I fancy it (e.g: going out after work) I’ll use Bare Minerals Foundation (post).

Shape
With contour and highlight, I like to keep it simple and quick. I apply Essence Mosaic Compact Powder (post) with my new favourite contour brush by Luxie (post) – this is a perfect contour for my skin as it isn’t too dark – just gives a nice bronzed finish. To highlight, I use a Makeup Revolution Baked Highlighter in shade Golden Lights (post), applied with a Makeup Revolution brush. I then leave it to set whilst I complete the rest of my makeup, and buff it out with a Lili Burton Kabuki Brush (post).
Eyes
For my eyebrows, I use the B.Defined eyebrow kit. The light brown powder is a perfect colour match for my eyebrows! I don’t use the brush that comes with it, though – I use the brush from an old Benefit Brow Zings kit.
For work, I don’t wear eyeshadow or do anything fancy – I just opt for trusty mascara. I’ve been loving the I Love Extreme Crazy Volume mascara by Essence recently – it’s so affordable but actually makes my lashes nicely thick and long!
Lips
Again, I like to keep things natural on the lip front. To keep my lips hydrated, I use Puriskin Moisture Boost* (post). If I fancy a bit of colour or gloss, I’ve been using my Blake Boutique lipglosses* (post).
