I don’t know about you, but my wardrobe is in desperate need of a summer spruce up – especially since my body size and shape has completely changed since giving birth to baby Arthur.
I’m a sucker for a good deal, so I’m spending a LOT of time searching the web for cheap and cheerful clothes – so much so that I literally type ‘women’s clothes sale’ into Google. Always trying to find a bargain! I had a sudden realisation the other day, though. Why do I keep buying cheap clothes that either lack in quality or don’t actually fit properly and make me feel confident? My self esteem and body confidence is at an all time low since giving birth, so I really need to be investing in quality, staple pieces that are made well, fit well, and give me the confidence to say ‘I feel good wearing this’.
So, when I was asked to put together a wish list in collaboration with Fashion World, I jumped at the chance. It seemed to coincide perfectly with my current quest to find some new clothing retailers that suit my new ‘curvy’ shape, just in time for a summer holiday spend up!
At first glance, I was massively impressed with the variety available on Fashion World – not only can you purchase all of your summer wardrobe, but you can even buy your luggage essentials and travel accessories directly from them, too! I don’t know about you, but I’d much rather wait in for one delivery than six different ones (although who am I kidding, I’m mostly looking forward to the fact it would show up as only one line on my bank statement to make me feel like I’ve spent less!). I also like how Fashion World is a ‘Plus Size’ website, meaning they stock only sizes 10-32. For me, this means that I immediately know their clothes are specifically made for a more curvaceous body, so they’re more likely to fit me in all the right places.
Anyway, without further ado, let’s jump straight in to my favourite finds in Fashion World’s holiday shop – I’ve done the hours of scrolling so that you don’t have to!
I am in love with this gorgeous blue snake print dress! Whilst I wouldn’t normally sway from my neutral colours, I love how this dress takes the normal snake print trend to a new level with the pop of colour. With a flattering v neck, loose arms and midi length, this dress hides the bits you’re nervous about without making you look like you’ve been swallowed by a curtain (you know exactly the types of dresses I mean!). Style with a straw bag and sandals for a luxe daytime beach get up, then dress up with heels and statement jewellery to take the look from day to night.
This floaty, delicate kaftan is a dream with it’s long, scalloped arms and romantic floral embroidery. On holiday, chuck this over your swimwear for an instant cover up that doesn’t drown you or provide an eye sore. In the not quite so sunny UK, pair with denim shorts or jeans and a vest top and style as more of a ‘long cardigan’. I have a feeling this Monsoon cover up is going to be the focus of many an instagram picture this summer.
Everyone needs a trusty little black dress in their wardrobe, and seeing as all of mine either don’t fit me any more or have been chucked through the wash so many times they’re past their best, I was extremely happy to find this little number on the Fashion World website. It looks like it’s loose and floaty, so won’t cling to my post pregnancy jiggly bits, yet has just the hint of shaping to provide a smooth silhouette. The buttons down the front give a bit more detail, and mean this dress could be styled from the most casual of outfits, to the most dressy.
Everyone needs a trusty little black dress in their wardrobe…
PS – now you’ve got your summer wardrobe sorted, don’t forget there’s still more to do to get summer ready!
