If you’re looking for somewhere to grab a coffee whilst out on a dog walk, or looking for an excellent children’s playground where you can grab lunch afterwards then I highly recommend the hidden gem that is Lizzie’s Cafe in Stone. Read on to hear all about it!

What is Lizzie’s Cafe?

Lizzie’s Cafe is a small cafe serving hot and cold drinks, snacks, bakery items, light bites to eat and ice creams. Welcoming to young children with a high chair available, it’s a lovely little community cafe and well worth a visit for a refreshment or light bite.

Where is Lizzie’s Cafe?

Lizzie’s Cafe is located at Stone Recreation Ground in Kent. The full address is Lizzie’s Cafe at Stone Recreation Ground, Hayes Road, Stone, Kent, DA9 9DS.

Is there parking?

Yes! There is a small car park just outside Lizzie’s Cafe – this is shared with the Stone Pavilion, so it does get full up quickly. There is, however, ample free street parking in the roads surrounding the Stone Recreation Ground, so you won’t find it too difficult to find a car parking space. Please remember to be courteous to the residents when parking and be sure not to park in the ‘drop off only’ spaces for the primary school opposite.

Free Community Library at Lizzie’s Cafe in Stone

One thing I definitely wasn’t expecting to find at Lizzie’s Cafe in Stone is a free community library! Proudly displaying that you can take a book, read a book, keep a book and bring a book, the bookshelves were well stocked with a variety of books including children’s picture books and even jigsaw puzzles. This is an absolutely lovely idea and I wish more places did this – it makes for a beautiful sense of community and definitely encouraged us to come back to visit again.

Our Review

We’ve visited Lizzie’s Cafe a couple of times now since discovering it after attending our Toddler Sense classes, which are held in the Stone Pavilion. It is only small, but is an excellent pit stop for locals and I’m surprised it isn’t advertised or even spoken about more regularly by locals. It’s an absolute hidden gem!

The staff are always so friendly and welcoming, and love to chat and offer advice if needed but equally happy to leave you alone if that’s what you’d prefer. It’s extremely clean and it’s very safe, too. We’ve not yet had any food from the cafe, but the coffees and babyccinos are great, and very well priced too.

The little free community library is just so lovely and definitely the highlight of Lizzie’s Cafe for me – anyone with children knows how difficult it can be to fill the days and keep little ones entertained, so to be able to actually enjoy a hot cup of coffee in peace whilst my son reads some picture books is absolute bliss! There’s plenty of choice of books for children and equally plenty of choice of both fiction and non fiction for adults. There’s even a few puzzles for adults, too!

Overall, if you’re local and looking for something to fill an hour or two, then Lizzie’s Cafe in Stone is a great choice – in fact, we easily spend a good few hours out the house by packing a picnic and visiting the park after having a coffee. The less time you spend indoors, the less mess the children can make after all!
