Millbrook Garden Centre in Southfleet, Gravesend is a great garden centre, but they’ve just upped their game even more by opening a brand new food hall and butcher!
Millbrook has always had a small array of local produce and some more unusual and unique brands, but their new food hall has taken that concept and multiplied it to create a luxury food hall championing Kent’s finest food and drink. They’ve got everything from jams and chutneys, honey, beer, wine, gin, bread and cakes, chocolate and confectionery, fresh fruit and vegetables, a big selection of COOK meals and PLENTY more!
The in house butcher, @rooks_at_millbrook is a very welcome addition indeed – since moving to the area over 4 years ago, the lack of a butchers has always been a bug bearer of ours. Rooks is a family run, Kent based butcher, and I was delighted to see not only a fridge full of pre-packaged meats (with some great deals on flavoured BBQ meat in particular!) but an actual fresh from the counter butchers too! When I visited, I picked up a big 1kg of chicken fillets, some minted lamb and flavoured steak for £19.99 – a great price for both the quality and quantity. Please excuse my lack of photos of the actual butchers itself – it’s obviously very popular with the local community already as there were too many people to get a photo!
There’s plenty more to do at Millbrook Garden Centre in Gravesend – from the plants and shrubbery you’d expect of a typical garden centre, theres also plenty of homeware and gifts. They also have a restaurant called ‘The Mill’.
That being said, despite all of the offerings at Millbrook Garden Centre, the Food Hall and Butchers are definitely worth a visit in their own right if you live locally, but you can also easily stretch your visit to make more of a day out if you so wish.
Millbrook has three different locations, but you’ll find the Food Hall and Butchers at their Gravesend location – Millbrook Garden Centre, Station Road, Southfleet, Gravesend, Kent, DA13 9PA
The Millbrook Garden Centre opening times can be found on their website. As of December 2021, the opening times for Millbrook Garden Centre in Gravesend are 9am-5pm Monday to Saturday, and 10am-4pm on Sundays.
There is a large free car park with a small number of parent and child and accessible parking spaces near the entrance.
PS – If you visit off the back of my recommendation, please tag me in your photos on Instagram and use the hashtag #JodetopiaInKent. I’d love to taste test ALL the offerings available in the Food Hall, but there’s so much it would take me forever.. so if you visit please do let me know what you try and what you’d recommend!
